If you already have Windows Media Player 9 or above installed in your computer, then this new MsDVR 2005 version is for you.

This latest MsDVR 2005 now works with Windows Media Player 9 or above. It actually requires Windows Media Player 9 or above.

MsDVR 2005 does not require any version of Windows Media Encoder, but if Windows Media Encoder is installed, then additional encoding profiles or custom encoding profiles can be used.

Note that Windows Media Player 9 or above includes the authoring/encoding components needed for recording video and audio. MsDVR 2005 leverages these component.

MsDVR 2005 may work with Windows 98 or Windows Me but not tested.

MsDVR 2005 v1.3.251 (beta), August 3, 2005

Existing Users of MsDVR 2000 version 1.1.214h:

If you're currently using MsDVR 2000 production version 1.1.214h, you do not need to un-install. Just download and install the Beta.  MsDVR 2000 and MsDVR 2005 can co-exist or can be installed side by side in the same machine. Note however that MsDVR 2000 may not work well with Windows Media Player 9.

Our recommendation: If you're using Windows 98 or Windows Me, and your computer is less than 1GHz CPU, and MsDVR 2000 version 1.1.214h have been working well, then we suggest you stay with it.
